Opportunity High School Diploma Program

Did you know you can earn your high school diploma while completing a college technical program? The OHSD program provides adult students, aged 18 years and older, who are enrolled in a career and technical education program at a public junior college in the state of Texas, as defined in , the opportunity to earn a high school diploma through concurrent enrollment in a competency-based education program. Texas Education Code establishes that the OHSD is equivalent to a high school diploma conferred by a public school district.

Unlike a GED, the Opportunity High School Diploma builds five skills: civics, communication, math, scientific reasoning and workplace success! This competency-based education program has instructional outcomes and performance expectations set for each of the competencies. The Texas Opportunity High School Diploma values what you already know, with classes designed to help build upon your current knowledge, helping you earn your diploma faster!

  • How does it work?

    When you're ready we'll begin with an assessment of your level in each of the five skill areas (civics, communication, math, scientific reasoning and workplace success) which will help us build a customized education path for you.

    After you complete your classes, at the end of the program we'll assess you again. If you are proficient in the five areas, we'll award you with the state high school diploma!

  • What are the requirements for eligibility?

    Adult students 18 or older are qualified, and you'll also need to be enrolled in a career training program at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.

    We have a myriad of high-quality resources and training programs to help you not only earn your diploma, but also gain a certificate to help propel you into the workforce!

    The student must pay for the career training; tuition assistance available to those who are eligible! Check out or contact our Financial Aid resources for more info!

    We have career & industry training in a plethora of fields, where you can earn a certification upon completion of the courses!
